Ayia Napa - Rethymnon: Ayia Napa - Rethymnon: Entirely Accessible Cities
The municipality of Agia Napa announced its collaboration with the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities in Greece and the Municipality of Rethymnon in Crete, in order to improve the accessibility for people with disabilities. The aim of this project is to create the proper facilities, allowing both of the cities to be completely accessible. The cost of the project will be 50.000 €. The actions of the project in Ayia Napa are: Facilities for disabled in, the City Hall and Municipal Museum "Thalassa", four public squares, Seferis, Monastiri, Limani, the courtyard of the Church "Panagia Agia Napa" and three beaches in Makronisos, Pantachos and Landa. Also there have been road works and improvements in Makronissos street and the Archaeological Site of Makronisos. Rethymno made the following actions: Accessible equipment and services for Disabled in local beaches, implementation of alarms in traffic lights, improvements in accessibility at the General Hospital of Rethymno and Kanakaki Municipal Gallery. The accessibility projects in Fortezza Fortress were implemented, an accessible guidebook for the Municipality of Rethymno is already issued.
